Carmen is an admitted attorney and a certified Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She holds a Bachelor of Laws (BA Law), a LLB, and a Master of Laws in Contract Law (LLM) from the University of Pretoria.

Carmen has over 15 years of experience in the financial services and property industries and possesses a strong legal background. She gained valuable experience at Investec, as an
Internal Consultant, in client and relationship management, commercial property finance, property development finance and commercial transactions. Carmen then led the legal department at Billion Group, proactively shaping the organisation’s legal environment by developing and implementing a legal strategy and framework aligned with the Group’s strategic objectives. Subsequently, Carmen joined the Office of the CEO, assisting the CEO with day-to-day operations and strategic business objectives.

 

Carmen’s experience includes monitoring and ensuring the successful implementation of key strategic initiatives and projects. She has also overseen and provided support for high-level strategic transactions, special projects and initiatives.

 

With a unique ability to translate complex tasks into accessible and actionable insights, her experience enables her to assist clients in navigating the complexities of AI adoption and implementation while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
